The Callisto Protocol: All Weapons

There are a total of 9 weapons you can unlock in The Callisto Protocol. Keep reading to learn how to unlock all of them.

The Callisto Protocol is a brand new sci-fi survival horror video game from Striking Distance Studios. You play the story as Jacob Lee, a hired cargo transporter working for the United Jupiter Company (UJC), who crash-lands his ship on Callisto after it is hijacked by the Outer Way terrorist organization.

Even though you survive the crash, you are immediately captured by Black Iron Prison guards without proper charges or trial. And as expected, the prison turns out to be less than accommodating considering an unknown disease is turning inmates into hostile mutants called “biophages“.

Your only shot at survival is to escape this prison. But it won’t be an easy task, considering you not only have to evade security but also fight off the biophages you encounter along the way to avoid getting infected.

Since the biophages are an obvious threat, Jacob will need to rely on various weapons to ensure his survival. Now, you may be wondering if there’s any way you can find something useful lying around within the Black Iron facility. And lucky for you, there are plenty. This guide will go over all the weapons you can find in The Callisto Protocol.

All Weapons in The Callisto Protocol

You can find a total of 9 different types of weapons in The Callisto Protocol. Although many of them will be unlocked automatically through story progression, you still need to collect schematics for 3 weapons to unlock them. Below are all the weapons you can get in The Callisto Protocol and where to find them.

Shiv

This is the first weapon you will unlock in The Callisto Protocol, and it also acts as your main stealth weapon. The Shiv is actually an improvised weapon that has been carved out of the back end of a metal wrench.

This multipurpose tool can be used to both sneak up behind enemies and kill them, and to override security doors. You can unlock this weapon pretty early on in the game by talking to Elias after leaving your prison cell.

Crowbar

This is the first melee weapon you will unlock in The Callisto Protocol that is also unlocked with story progression. However, unlike the shiv, you will get your hands on this weapon under pretty stressful circumstances.

These crowbars are generally used by Black Iron Maintenance, but an inmate with unauthorized possession of it will swing it at you during your intense fight in the prison’s control room. Once you manage to take it off their hands, this handy crowbar will become permanently yours to keep.

Stun Baton

This is the second melee weapon you’ll unlock in the game. And it makes a fine upgrade from the shabby crowbar you’ve been using up until now. Moreover, it is also the first upgradable weapon you can find in the game.

This kinetic energy capacitor is carried by all Black Iron security guards. So, you can loot it from one of the dead prison guards once you’ve escaped from the Med Ward in the Outbreak chapter. The stun baton can not only pack a punch but is also effective at blocking enemy attacks.

Hand Cannon

This is the first ranged weapon you can unlock in The Callisto Protocol. And this powerful service pistol can be customized to take down even the toughest of mutants. Despite being a single-fire pistol, each of its shots can pack a punch.

Like the Stun Baton, the Hand Cannon comes with a range of upgrades. Moreover, it also unlocks an alternate firing mode at max upgrade where each shot detonates when it lands on the enemy.

You will initially get some pistol parts when talking to Elias during the Outbreak chapter. Later, you’ll have to take it to Reforge and buy the Hand Cannon so that you can finally equip it from the Aftermath chapter.

GRP (Gravity Restraint Projector)

This Telekinetic glove is used by UJC correctional officers to keep inmates in check or to lift heavy objects. You can get your hands on this device in the Aftermath chapter, where you loot it off from a dead body in Ward 03.

If you’re even slightly familiar with Remedy’s Control, then you’d know that the best part about that game was the protagonist’s ability to manipulate gravity to draw and throw enemies and objects around.

The GRP Glove in The Callisto Protocol works exactly like that, where you have to aim at objects or enemies with your hands to pull them towards you or fling them towards a wall or hazards like spinning blades. Moreover, you can also use it in combination with a melee weapon to deal maximum damage.

Skunk Gun

This is a one-handed, prototype shotgun and the second ranged weapon you can find in The Callisto Protocol. Unlike a regular shotgun, this one shoots out a cluster of lasers that can bounce off of surfaces.

Sadly, this weapon isn’t unlocked as part of the main story, so you’ll actually have to look for its schematic to add it to your arsenal. First, you have to clear the Basement D4 area in the Aftermath chapter and collect the Gate Fuse.

Then, you’ll have to backtrack to Basement D3 to unlock a vent using the Fuse. And after you get access to this vent, head into the room beyond the vent and collect the schematic on the workbench.

Riot Gun

This is the second shotgun-type ranged weapon you can unlock in the game, and it can really pack a punch. The Riot Gun is a two-handed pump shotgun that you unlock automatically as part of the main story.

Not only does the Riot Gun hold more ammo than the Skunk Gun, but it also serves as your go-to damage dealer in The Callisto Protocol. This shotgun will be given to you by Dani once you’ve helped her fight off the biophages in the garage in the Lost chapter.

Tactical Pistol

Tactical Pistol is the second handgun you can unlock in The Callisto Protocol. Although it is not as strong as the hand cannon, this fast-firing pistol will save your life in critical situations where you have to shoot off the tentacles of the mutated enemies.

To unlock the Tactical Pistol, you must find its schematic and purchase the weapon from Reforge. You can unlock this weapon midway through the Below chapter. Once you reach the underground area, move past the spiked corridors and take down the three blind enemies.

After that, keep heading straight until you reach a vault. Then, defeat the enemy that jumps out from the wall and collect the Tactical Pistol schematic from the desk.

Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle is a well-powered long-range weapon in The Callisto Protocol. However, since it has such a high recoil, you should consider unlocking the Stability Upgrade.

Despite being the final weapon in the game, you cannot unlock it as part of the main story. Instead, you can find its schematics in the Colony chapter, so be sure to buy the weapon afterward from Reforge.

To unlock the Assault Rifle, you must look for the building with the General Store sign once you reach the miners’ settlement, and make your way through the other end of it.

You’ll find the schematic for the Assault Rifle on a bathroom sink there. However, an enemy will jump out with a surprise attack right after you pick up the schematic, so be prepared for a fight.
